Seemingly music can help people with dementia and Alzheimer's - something about the familiarity in an unknown world. I just like listening to music. I don't take much interest in the lyrics, or perhaps the lyrics don't strike a chord with me (see what I did there?!) in the way it does with some people. Sure I listen to the lyrics and there's some I like more than others but I don't get that "connection" some people talk about with a particular song. What did the drummer call his twin daughters? Anna One, Anna Two. How do you know there's a drummer standing outside your door? Because they never know when to come in.

From my early childhood as a piano student, through my teens as a drummer and then a member of numerous bands till today, it's played a huge role in my life and the lives of my daughters. Between my daughters and my brother (who's also a drummer) we constantly exchange musical favorites from all gendres.. Yep. I can relate to that! The CD player was the most used device in our house - not the TV.... ... is there another way to look at it Going Too Fucking Far NEW Blog Features RevealeD O O A Foolproof Method Posted Over on that NEW site O O

Helped change your mood from bad to good? Yes quite often in a variety of circumstances. What is your own genre of choice? Most all rock from mid-50s to 80s or so. Some jazz, bug band and blues. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Well, Joy,,,I enjoy music but don't know one note from another when listing to instruments play,,,sure I know a high note from a low note and I know there are a ton of tempos..beyond that I am a music dummy ...but my genre enjoyment is quite large.,,,why limit us with sticking to what we enjoy the most? I sing but not well enough for anyone to here...a bucket list item...maybe college music classes,,,maybe something these tiny hands can play...flute, ukulele,,,harmonica

Every woman I've ever fallen for I've associated with a song: My high school girlfriend: Temple of the Dog "All Night Thing" The woman I gave my virginity to: Barenaked Ladies "Be My Yoko Ono" The woman I never told: Fun Lovin' Criminals "Scooby Snacks" My sister's university roommate: Eric Clapton "Wonderful Tonight" The one that broke my heart: Black Eyed Peas "Meet Me Halfway" In need of closure? Rollins Band "Alien Blueprint" I know scent is the sense most tied to memory, but there's something to be said for music taking you back to that moment in time, eh? Joy, I look forward to your opinion on each of these selections.

A world without music would be a very sad place indeed ! I trained with a 1st violinist when I was 6 years old, he taught me violin, mandolin, and banjo, as well as chess. I took piano starting at age 9, joined my school band in 5th grade, playing alto sax, progressing thru baritone base tenor & soprano sax by 11th grade. I joined choir in 8th grade, as a tenor, and continued thru my 7th year in college in choirs. I performed with a quartet strating in my senior year in high school and not stopping until '86, when I could no longer take time from my business to continue performing. I still play the sax, I still sing, and noddle on my keyboard my harmonica, and my guitar from time to time, for my own enjoyment. As my tinitis progresses, I know I am missing notes being played, but I still hear most of it, and can still take pleasure in listening to symphony orchestra and picking out individual intsruments as they play. And, a beautiful sexy female alto voice still makes me melt into a puddle ! I cannot live without music !

Music has always been an important part of my life. I was raised in a musical household. Some of my family were great singers and some played an instrument, or six. I started to learn how to play the flute when I was 11 and I became an instant band geek and I continued to play until I graduated from high school. Over the years, I also learned how to play the piccolo, oboe, bassoon, and soprano saxophone as needed. I can also rock the bass guitar!I also did quite a bit if singing from when I was in the 7th grade up until graduation. I did large group, small group, and solo competitions in chorus and in band. I did a Capella, jazz choir, concert band, marching band, and pep band. As a flutist, I was in the all-state band in my junior and senior year of high school. My senior year, I nailed my audition and landed the second chair spot. Woo!

Classic Rock, some blues... sometimes a lot of blues. Classical guitar, Flamenco guitar, Flamenco guitar with a hot flamenco dancer... beautiful to watch! Rockabilly... Depends on my mood but something about the guitar... in a past life I was Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Paco de Lucía, and Carlos Santana all rolled into one. Sprinkle in a little B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The list goes on........... Without music... like life... without Joy!

Thank you. Currently, the only flute I play with regularly is Joey's skin flute. But I do still own the flute that I used throughout my entire "career," but I have not taken it out of its case in years. Playing it would be like riding a bicycle, I would be a little rusty, but I would get back to where I was in no time. Unfortunately, since I have not used my flute in so long, I would likely have to spend some money on getting some springs and pads replaced just so I could tune it properly. It would be worth it though. As for the other instruments I used to play, I could probably do the same, but I never owned any of those. And I still love to sing along with the radio, poorly. lol

Good morning Joy! I like to listen to music from the 60's and 70's. It helps me to remember the days gone by and remembering the good old days. I have never had surgery but help at the dentist. It dose help to feel better about yourself. Music from the 60's and 70's helps and can be good having forplay to with a friend! Butch

Not to make you jealous but when there was a place called Lenny's on the Pike I was a guest to visit Buddy Rich. I also was an ear student of all the hard rock drummers and Mickey Hart gave me his drumsticks at one concert. But then again Leonard Cohen and Phil Ochs got their share of my time, frequently. Neil Diamond- well I have been to 5 concerts and there will not be more so I have to revel in my memories and CDs (Virtual Symposium Group) use Virtual Symposium Group

Hi Joy... taking me way further today... music is truly an inspiration... arousing those other senses... hmm... posted another one on your other site a few minutes ago... reminded me of this one... Muse - "Undisclosed Desires" I know you've suffered But I don't want you to hide It's cold and loveless I won't let you be denied Soothing I'll make you feel pure Trust me You can be sure I want to reconcile the violence in your heart I want to recognize your beauty is not just a mask I want to exorcise the demons from your past I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart You trick your lovers That you're wicked and divine You may be a sinner But your innocence is mine Please me Show me how it's done Tease me You are the one To leave private messages, please use my confidential mailbox at my blog: Good luck!!!
